It is said that the fear of public speaking is the number one fear in America. Whether this is actually true or not is beside the point, for the message that it conveys is loud and clear – many of us struggle with stage fright and the fear of public speaking in some form or another. Many of us allow this fear to hold back our voice, our gifts and our passions. Many musicians, storytellers and poets either shy away from the stage, or perform with a fear inside that prevents the feeling of confidence and deep fun; there are actors among us who fear the audition or that first night’s performance; some business people dread having to give a presentation, share their passions at a networking gathering, or speak up at a meeting. This happens to be a very common occurrence. If this is your story, you are not alone.
And yet, imagine what it would be like to feel your Authentic Voice coming forward, to have the same comfort talking or performing before an audience or a group as you do speaking with a friend and ally. What would it be like to walk into a room and not see it divided into stage and audience, but see it as one whole room, full of people who support you and what you have to offer?
This vision is truly possible.
Through the use of Meridian Tapping, often referred to as EFT – Emotional Freedom Techniques – I have witnessed and experienced emotional distress related to fears, shame, anger, and other such feelings, release to allow confidence, joy, fun and authenticity to come forth in a lasting way. Indeed, this is not only possible, it happens time and time again. I am often amazed at the simplicity of the process and how wonderfully it works with the complexity of human emotions.
So what is EFT? EFT is a VERY simple and ‘easy to learn’ way of helping to balance the energy in the body, which involves tapping on various Acupressure points while repeating certain phrases. Doing this really does help the emotion around a specific issue reduce or fully dissipate, which often lasts forever.
Using EFT to help with Stage Fright and the Fear of Public Speaking is a natural match. Through the release of the fear of rejection, of doubt, and of the energies of past experiences, you are now free to explore, enjoy and feel comfortable sharing your gifts, your ideas and ultimately your Authentic Voice. How does that sound?
